The Hungry Homesteader
Sustainable living is not a passing trend, it's a lifestyle. Choose to get your hands dirty, raise your own food, and invest in your own future.
Our Origins

The Hungry Homesteader was inspired by a lifelong love of plants and nature, but it also wouldn't have been possible without our small family-run homestead. Both the business (Crescent Moon Collective) and our homestead allowed for a much-needed freedom from the "hustle" lifestyle during the recent pandemic. It allowed us to provide for ourselves and then to help others as we began bringing our products to local markets and sharing our story thru social media and daily conversation. We soon realized that people were starving for this type of connection, this "lost" information. We strongly believe a bit of hard work and resourcefulness can provide us with everything we need to sustain a fully balanced lifestyle. From the food & medicines we can grow to the energizing release it has on our mental health, the simple truth is that some things are better when we have a hand in their creation. Growing our own food is achievable. Learning lifestyle skills is not a thing of the past. Barter & trade are very much alive in small communities. Each step towards developing a more sustainable lifestyle, improving your real-life experiences & to creating positive change in the world around you is a step in the right direction.
If you are interested in food cultivation & preservation, animal rearing, medicinal plant knowledge, gardening, building projects or general life-style improvement we encourage you to check out our blog and become a part of our growing community of members by subscribing to our site.
Small steps lead to big changes, and we believe it's never to late to start!
